Text to Speech
Speak these
Short phrases, when speech is on. The matching sound effects are a separate list under Sound, so you can mix and match.
Sound
Letting go of the slider plays a test chime at the new level. Headphones make the direction cues much clearer.
Chime loudness
By walking distance: louder the fewer steps it takes to reach the gem. As the crow flies: louder the closer it is in squares, whatever the walls do.
How far away you can hear a gem
Gem chimes
Nearest only is quieter and easier to follow; you hear the next gem once the nearest is found.
Sound effects
Each plays whether speech is on or off. Signs and clocks get a bell, other landmarks a soft tick. At a junction you hear a bend sound from each open side and the junction sound straight ahead, in quick succession.
You're inside a maze with hidden gems. Each gem plays its own chime: louder and quicker as you get closer, coming from the passage you need to take. Find them all in as few steps as you can. Ten levels, 4×4 to 18×18; finishing one unlocks the next. Headphones make the direction cues much clearer.
Keyboard: up and down arrows step, left and right arrows turn (or W A S D); hold the up arrow to keep walking. P or F says where you are, Space repeats a junction or bend sound. Esc pauses.
Phone: swipe up to move forward, swipe down to move backwards, and swipe left or right to turn. Use two fingers to swipe with TalkBack, or use the buttons.

Is this your first time playing?
The tutorial takes you through moving, turning, the START star and following a gem's chime, one small step at a time. You can also start it later from Settings.
Paused
The chaser and the chimes are stopped. Press Escape or Resume to carry on. Opening Settings pauses too.

On a phone: swipe up on the picture to step forward, swipe down to step back, swipe left or right to turn. Keep your finger down after an up or down swipe to keep walking. Tapping the top, bottom, left or right edge of the picture does the same, and tapping the middle asks "Where am I?". With TalkBack or VoiceOver, those five spots are buttons: explore the picture by touch and double-tap.
